Oasis Cardiff, SplottClient: Richard Eynon
Oasis Cardiff is a centre for refugees and asylum seekers offering an invaluable service to up to 150 visitors daily. They focus on bringing together people and their cultures from around the world to socialise and participate in classes and sessions including art, languages, cooking, sport, day trips and more.
Fundamentally they offer free lunch every week day, initially attracting 80 to 90 people and more recently there has been as many as 300. In addition, The Plate – a scheme offering refugees catering training and experience in a commercial environment has been growing in popularity.
RACS were invited by Richard Eynon (Development Manager) and Reynette Roberts (Director) to help them expand their catering facilities to cope with an ever increasing demand. We worked with the catering team towards a proposal which is now in place as a reality.
More space and updated equipment for their wash up, food storage and refrigeration, food preparation, cooking and demonstration areas provide greater efficiency to serve lunch; plus their clients accessing the kitchen for training are now within professional, structured conditions.
