RACS are assisting a non profit charity called Oasis Cardiff who offer an invaluable service to it’s community of refugees and asylum seekers. They have 100-150 visitors through the centre’s doors daily and a large part of its service is to bring together people and their cultures from all around the world to socialise as well as participate in classes and sessions including art, languages, cooking, sport, relaxation, day trips and more. A fundamental part is the free lunch every week day cooked and served by volunteers in their kitchen as well as the many events organised and inspired by the cuisine on offer.
The building as it currently stands is without sufficient ventilation systems, kitchen space and equipment so with the funding now in place, RACS were approached to design a new kitchen facility in an adjacent room and refurbish the existing kitchen space. The fit-out of the new kitchen should be achieved by early 2020.
