were commissioned to find a solution to this problem. The novel result is
a bank of 6 ceiling suspended electric heat pumps. These are SKYAIR units
with a combined output of 66kW of heating and 63kW of cooling power. Each

Lodge in Gorseinon is a building of many parts. Originally built around
1880, it is has been a Social Club since 1946, having become Independent
in the recent past. In the 1960's, the building was extended, providing a
large hall for concerts and other performances.
As well as the bars, the concert
hall provides the life blood of the Club. Many varied events are held,
from Bingo through Dancing and Discos to Live Shows, with the hall in use
every week throughout the year. The room is able to seat 350 in comfort,
has a large stage area and an integral bar at the back of the hall.
Due to its overall size, and open
construction, temperature control within the concert hall was always
difficult and left much to be desired. Heated by an old gas system, it had
no cooling facilities and the flat roof construction allows heat loss in
the winter and gain in the summer. The popularity of the event being held
provided different occupancy levels. All these factors added together to
give rise to major problems in getting the temperature balance right. In
summer it was generally too hot and in winter too cold. .

equipment as well as extract canopies, preparation benches, storage
shelves, sinks and dish washing facilities. Next to this modern kitchen is
a large food prep room. As well as all equipment for the kitchen, RACS
also provided all the cutlery, crockery and pots and pans.. |

"We are delighted with the performance and temperature control of the
new system. It has made a big difference to the comfort levels in the
concert hall"
